In 1998 Het Anker Brewery first made their famous Cuvee van de Keizer Blue on February 24th to celebrate the date of birth of Keizer Karel (also known as Charles V or Charles Quint). 10 years later, in 2008 the brewery decided to brew a new ale in order to keep up with celebrating traditions. The new beer was baptized Cuvee van de Keizer Red, and unlike its big brother became a non-typical blond beer. Together with Cuvee van de Keizer Blue the beer was renamed in 2018 to Cuvee van de Keizer Imperial Blond to emphasize the grand character of the beer. Cuvee van de Keizer Imperial Blond contains several types of malt and 3 different kinds of herbs are added during the brewing process. Its bright golden color, high alcohol percentage and full and well-balanced taste make this ale a genuine source of vitality and power which will please even the most critical connoisseur. Unlike most blond beers this brew has quite a sweet taste, but it is superbly balanced out with several touches of spiciness and a lingering herbal bitterness. For ideal savoring, gently pour out in one fluent movement, at a temperature of 7-8° C. Those who like a refreshing, heavy and somewhat spicy beer, choose this blonde Ale.
