ウィスキー・インフューズド・ダークは2015年に「グーデン・カロルス・インダルジャンス」シリーズの第一弾としてリリースされました。このシリーズはユニークで革新的なビールを1回限りの限定醸造するものです。最初は再発売する予定はありませんでしたが、ウィスキー・インフューズドは終売後2年経っても毎日のように再販のリクエストが醸造所に届きました。そのためこのビールが発売直後の2016年にワールド・ビア・アワードにて「スピリッツフレーバービール部門」で世界ベストビールとして選ばれたことも、驚くことではありませんでした。2017年には二年連続受賞を果たしました。
こうしてこのビールは、2017年に「キュベ・ヴァン・ド・ケイゼル・ウィスキー・インフューズド」として再発売され、その後、最終的に「グーデン・カロルス ウィスキー・インフューズド」という名称に落ち着きました。このネーミングはビールの醸造方法に関係しており、キュベ・ヴァン・ド・ケイゼル・インペリアル・ダークにグーデン・カロルス・シングル・モルト・ウィスキーを加えて、より味わい豊かなビールになりました。このウィスキーは、グーデン・カロルス・トリプルの麦芽の麦汁から蒸留されています。ウィスキーはバーボンの古樽で熟成後、ヘット・アンケルのオリジナル仕様の樽に移動されます。このバレルはフルーティーな香り、オークとバニラの風味が特徴です。
このウィスキーを加えることにより、パワフルでフルボディ、バニラ、オークとチョコレートの風味を持つ、個性的なビールとなります。ゆっくりとお飲みいただきたい贅沢な皇帝のビールです。
◆A luxurious fusion of a full-bodied dark beer and matured whiskey character.◆
Whiskey Infused was originally launched in 2015 as the first beer in the limited “Gouden Carolus Indulgence” series. This series puts forward one-time brews of unique and innovating beers. While the initial plan was not to repeat any of the brews, the brewery still received daily requests for Whiskey Infused after 2 years. This was not surprising as the beer immediately got awarded as the “World’s Best Spirit Flavored Beer” at the World Beer Awards in 2016. This trick was repeated in 2017.
And so, the beer was relaunched in 2017 under the name Cuvee van de Keizer Whiskey Infused before the brewery settling on Gouden carolus Whiskey Infused. These names refer to the brewing method of the beer. Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Imperial Dark is enriched by an infusion of Gouden Carolus Single Malt whisky. This whiskey is distilled from the mash of malted grain of Gouden Carolus Tripel. The whiskey ripens first in classic Bourbons barrels to be moved afterwards to Het Anker barrels with unique specifications. It is characterized by subtle hints of fruity aroma’s, wood and vanilla.
The result of this infusion is an exceptional ale: powerful and full-bodied, with subtle touches of vanilla, oak and chocolate. An imperial brew to cherish and enjoy in moderation.
