Little gnomes called “Chouffe” used to brew delicious beer in the Valley of the Fairies, enough to supply the whole of Belgium. Over time the brewery disappeared mysteriously and the humans were forced to brew their own beer. Marcel, one of the gnomes who still visited the human world from time to time met 2 brothers-in-law trying to brew beer at the exact same spot where the little Chouffes used to make their delicious liquid. The little gnome decided to help them by telling them the recipe from the long vanished beer. Yet again, the human world can enjoy the beers from the Valley of the Fairies! The golden colored La Chouffe can be called the first Belgian Craft Beer as it has been created in a small shack in the beautiful Ardennes region by 2 friends as early as 1982. It has a slight hoppy taste, combining notes of fresh coriander and fruity tones. The spiciness in the nose can also be found in the peppery aftertaste. Although topping at 8% alcohol, the beer never feels too heavy and is rather refreshing.
