Duvel Barred Aged is the result of the experimenting of the brewers of Duvel Moortgat. By letting the world renowned Duvel age on oak barrels, the brewery uses an old and traditional technique to create new and exciting tastes of the regular Duvel. For the 8th rendition of this iconic beer, Duvel Moortgat’s brewmasters went all the way to the other side of the world to take a look at Brazilian Cachaça barrels. Cachaça is a famous, spicy Brazilian Rhum and is distilled from freshly squeezed sugarcane juice. After maturing Duvel on these Cachaça barrels, the beer acquired a mild woody aroma with lively fruity tropical fruit notes and a gentle caramelly touch. In the mouth, the beer is velvety smooth with a sweet undertone and tropical fruity notes. This is accompanied by a warm sensation of the alcohol, after which the whole aftertaste lingers long inside the mouth.
